The resort, which now boasts 20 years of experienceamongst international audiences, was founded by Polly Matthew with thedesire to provide Ayurveda, yoga and meditation in a peaceful and captivating setting. Having lived in Germany for many years, Matthew aspired to build an Ayurvediccentre that adopted a holistic approach and at the same time reflected India’s culture and beauty in his home territory of Kerala.

Somatheeram is the first resort that has made the ancient teachings of Ayurveda renown beyond India’s borders and is set in tropical gardens with accommodation modeled after traditional southern India architecture and a wondrous view of the sea. Additionally, the SomatheeramAyurvedic Health Resort is frequently being awarded by the state government as the “Best Ayurvedic Centre for the quality of its service, making it the only resort to have received this approbation more than once.
